With more than 59,000 likes, the Facebook page Pursuing God’s Best has really taken off since Morgan Clegg created it three years ago. Alex caught up with Morgan to hear some of her story, and find out what inspired her to spread the simple message—that we should wait for God’s best in everything.
Morgan says she started the page after seeing her teenage friends become desperate to get into relationships, afraid they would always be alone and unloved. Seeing their fear led her to a question: ‘How many of us pursue things that may not be what God wants for us?’
‘So I created the page, and it’s been so successful. I think that says that there’s so many people who just need that reminder to set their eyes on God and just run straight for Him.’
Morgan herself only came to know Jesus a few years ago. Her mother was a Christian, but her father was an atheist. ‘It was a conflicting home life. You had an awesome mum, and quite a stressful dad to be around. He was also an alcoholic.’
‘I was home-schooled,’ she said, ‘so I spent a lot of time at home, and that really isolated me personally—even when I was out with friends. It was like I wasn’t really there.’
‘I was actually really depressed and suicidal for quite a number of years, but I just kept feeling like I needed to keep trying. Something was going to happen that would make it all worth it.’
One day at the library, Morgan stumbled across Soul Surfer, the autobiography of Bethany Hamilton, who at 13 lost her arm in a shark attack. Only one month later, encouraged by her faith, Bethany got back on her board. ‘I picked it up and I read it, and when I finished it, I thought I just need to give this Jesus thing a go.’
Within weeks of that decision, her mother reconnected with God, and started telling her siblings about Him. Soon enough, Morgan found herself sitting down for the first time in a church. It was then that she saw a vision of Jesus. ‘He opened His arms to me, and embraced me, and He was like “welcome home”. Since then, I’m all sold-out for the Lord.’
Alex commented that Morgan had started a page telling people it was ok to be single, while she herself was dating. She admits that at first she didn’t understand why God had asked her to spread this message. ‘I think a lot of people think that’s very hypocritical of me, but I just felt it on my heart, and I was like, I have to listen to God.’

But she points out that the message is about more than just relationships. ‘The aim of the page is really just to get people to take their eyes off what they want, and set them on God. And for me, that’s a really important reminder, because so many times I want God’s will to be my will.’
Morgan says many people have given their testimonies of how the page has helped them. ‘We also get a lot of people asking for advice regarding dating situations,’ she said. ‘And it always moves my heart, because there’s so many out there, particularly girls, who will practically sell everything they have to keep a guy around.’
‘So it’s very precious to me to be able to say to them, hey, if they don’t value you for who you are, if they’re trying to pressure you into having sex and all that, they’re not what God’s best is for you. And so being able to say that, I can really encourage them to leave these relationships, and really just keep going for God. The message just seems to be for everyone really.’
Morgan says the page’s audience spans all ages, but she believes the largest group is middle-aged women. ‘It’s a testimony of God’s grace, because I’m 18. I’m able to speak into the lives of these 40-year-old women, and men, though it is predominately women. How cool is that!’
‘It reminds me of the Scripture in Timothy, where it says not to reject someone just because of their age. For me, if I’m carrying God’s message, it applies to everyone, regardless of age, or country, or nationality. Everything is just for Jesus.’
