Have you ever felt like you’re too young to make an impact? It can feel like we’re always being told that we have to wait a few years to be taken seriously, or to impact the world in the way we want to.

Well, the Vision180 team had the opportunity to chat with the Swedish pop-band, Lin D. Made up of three siblings, Dennis, Emmy and Ella, we had a great opportunity to chat to people who use their music to create change—and they started when they were kids.

Ella, now 16, started becoming involved in music when she was only 5 years old—following in the footsteps of her older brother and sister. Impressive, right? A few years ago, deciding to make music aimed at their age-group, the siblings came together and created Lin D. ‘We decided that we wanted to make music for our own age,’ Emmy said. ‘We were tired of being connected with children’s music. We wanted to evolve.’

‘We come from quite a big musical background… our Mum basically did the same thing when she was young; she and her brothers were touring around and making music,’ Dennis said. ‘We’re best friends, and we get to do a lot of stuff together. We know each other so well, it’s like we’re floating when we’re on stage… it’s really good to have such a close bond between each other.’

But, it’s not just their close bond that keeps them motivated. These are self-proclaimed ‘church kids.’

We wanted to write a song about what’s the most important thing to us, and what we think is Priority 1 for us in life, and spread the message about what we believe in

Speaking about their song, Spread the News, Dennis let us know that it pays tribute to the most important thing to them: their relationship with God. ’We wanted to write a song about what’s the most important thing to us, and what we think is Priority 1 for us in life, and spread the message about what we believe in.’

Emmy went on: ’We grew up in church, but I came to a point where I decided for myself, not for my parents, that I really wanted to follow Jesus… I really wanted to make my relationship with Jesus personal.’

And since then, the siblings have used their platform to share their beliefs, uplift their audiences, and inspire listeners.

Although they might seem ‘too young’ to be making a real difference, there’s no doubt that their commitment to their faith is pretty inspiring. Their latest EP, Energy, reached number 16 on the Swedish Apple Music Charts, and their songs are currently played in Australia for an even wider audience through Vision180.

The story of Dennis, Emmy and Ella coming together at such a young age to create something that shares the Gospel just goes to show that you’re never too young to make an impact.
