How can we keep track of all the trouble in the world right now, without living in constant fear?
Dr Kameel Majdali, from Teach All Nations, believes our solace has to come from the hope we have in Christ. “This is of course what the Christian faith is so good at, and that is conquering fear. As it says in 1 John, perfect love casts out all fear. And the reason we’ve come to Faith is because God first loved us, and sent his only begotten son.”
But mind you, even as believers, we have to exercise our Faith, we have to build up our Faith. We have to feed our faith with the Word of God, and quality music and Christian fellowship.
In easier times, we can sometimes forget to rely on God. For Dr Majdali, an economic and health crisis like this is a chance for us to get our priorities right. Just before he spoke to 20Twenty’s Neil Johnson, he’d read Proverbs 11:28, which says “He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage.
“Now how do you become righteous? It’s not by religious dos and don’ts. You become righteous by your faith. You believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, God’s righteousness is downloaded into you, and you’re going to flourish. But if all you’re doing is trusting in natural resources, you’re in trouble. So we need a new and spiritual perspective, and of course that’s what the Gospel does.”
One of the topics Dr Majdali teaches on frequently is Bible prophecy, and some Christians are talking about the possibility that the events we’re seeing now may be the beginning of the last days. But while it’s vital to seek Biblical insight into these turbulent times, Dr Majdali reminds us of Proverbs 4:18, NKJV, which says “the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day”.
“In some ways, last days is the hour for the Church to shine. Now it doesn’t mean there won’t be any challenges, there will. but we definitely will not be in darkness, because we’re following Christ, the light of the world.”
One of the things Dr Majdali teaches about is a period of shaking, prophesied in Haggai 2:6, and amplified in Hebrews 12:25-29. prior to the Kingdom of God coming, there will be shaking of the natural order, and of the Kingdoms of this world. I mean we’ve been seeing shaking not just in the last while, but probably well over the last century.”
“That’s why, as believers, we need to build our lives on the rock. That means we need to get serious about our Faith, build up our Faith, make it a top priority, and be in the will of God for our lives, because if we’re not, we will be also vulnerable to the shaking.”
As usual, Neil Johnson’s conversation with Dr Majdali was full of essential guidance for navigating this moment Biblically. Check out the podcast below for much more on the shaking going on in the US right now thanks to the civil rights movement, and the power of prayer to bring about real change.
