Baby in womb

With over 70,000 abortions performed in Australia each year, as Christians, we are called to roll-up our sleeves and be involved in Pro-Life issues.

This week, Neil Johnson had a conversation with George Christensen, MP for Dawson, QLD, about his efforts to prevent the neglect of babies born alive after abortion procedures.

“…There’s been a growth in the number of babies born alive as a result of abortion procedures in QLD,” Christensen stated. “I don’t know that anyone can argue that a baby born alive is not a human being.”

Christensen refers to the Convention of the Rights of the Child, developed in 1989 and signed by Australia in 1990. “Babies born alive as the result of abortion procedures that are left to die are not in accordance with our international obligation [to the convention].” Christensen stressed.

States Parties recognise that every child has the inherent right to life. States Parties shall ensure to the maximum extent possible the survival and development of the child.” (United Nations)

“It is a breach of our international obligations…we have to stop the treatment of [babies born as a result of abortion procedures] being treated like medical waste.” Christensen emphasised.

To find out how George Christensen is defending the rights of these babies, and how others can help, listen to the full interview below.
