Ruth is from Papua New Guinea and currently living in Wagga Wagga, NSW, while on a PhD scholarship. Her husband and five kids are back in Papua New Guinea. Being away from her family is not easy. Ruth shares how she gets encouragement from Vision.

‘I enjoy The Word For Today. It really encourages me as well as Focus on the Family and the hymns. It’s really hard when you are alone and away from family. So, I listen to these words of encouragement, and I go back to the Bible, and I read. The hymns really strengthen my faith in God. Even though I’m alone, I know that Vision is there every day. It keeps me company, and it strengthens my faith in God,’ said Ruth.

Ruth is studying medical imaging, specialising in mammography. She has over 16 years of experience in clinical work and has published papers on her research into breast cancer. She lectures at the University of Papua New Guinea and is studying to improve Papua New Guinea’s breast cancer screening.

‘God has been doing great things personally for me and through networking with other people both in Australia and PNG to make this happen in the future. So, that’s my prayer. My encouragement to people out there is that God is real. We need to have that personal relationship with him because, without Him, we cannot achieve anything in life,’ said Ruth.

Ruth made a very generous donation to Vision. Many people may not be aware that when you support Vision here in Australia, a tithe is set aside for overseas missions that are looked after by United Christian Broadcast (UCB) in Asia-Pacific. For over 20 years, UCB has looked after 12 nations, including Papua New Guinea, the Solomons, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Indonesia and other nations.
