Emma from Moonee Ponds in Victoria had the privilege of being interviewed on air at the precise time the Visionathon tally reached the $2 million mark.
‘I like to give every Visionathon because it’s something I love to do. And I love being part of the Vision family. You guys bring so much hope. God is working in such an amazing way through you all. You’re touching so many people’s lives, and you’ve touched my life in so many different areas and stages,’ said Emma. ‘When we were going through our adoption process with our son, God was speaking to me through songs that were on the radio. Then when we got our son, I went into a really big drought with God. I didn’t know how to get back to God.’
Emma started to tune in to Focus on the Family and other programs and attributes Vision for helping her come back to God. Emma is very excited about the new Vision Kids program that will be available on the Vision app as of 1 July.
Thanks to the generous support of the Vision family, new and exciting developments are planned to ensure that Vision nourishes souls of all ages with the Word of God. Vision Kids is a new audio channel that will be available 24/7 for 8 to 12-year-olds. The program will have music, the Adventures in Odyssey and other content that will be developed over time.
‘It’s exciting to be able to invest these seeds into the next generation,’ said Phil Edwards.
This Visionathon was the largest appeal in Vision’s 35-year history, with a target of $2 million. It was a David and Goliath giant leap of faith as Vision was presented with a much prayed-for opportunity of using DAB+ Radio in the greater Brisbane area. This opportunity required Vision to raise $1 million to secure DAB+ Radio past the trial period, so $500K of the $2 million was going towards funding the DAB+ project.
‘I think there was a collective gulp at the time, but God is a big God. By faith, we put it out there, and we’ve made it. We’ve climbed to the top of the mountain,’ said Phil Edwards. ‘We’ve also made our other goal of 150 new monthly partners. So praise God and thank everybody around Australia who donated and those who gave for the first time. And especially those who gave during Visionathon a few weeks ago and gave again during these Final Steps days. A lot of people have said that they want to see Vision succeed and see the Gospel go out to every corner of Australia. It’s so encouraging to know that 4,787 in the Vision family have been part of Visionathon so far. Thank you to each and every one of you, and may God bless you richly in everything you put your hand to.’
Vision’s overall budget exceeds $10 million, with almost 90% of that provided through donations. A donation to Vision is far more than just a transaction. It’s an investment in helping people focus on God’s Word. Something that will change their life and last for all eternity.
