Joyce Meyer is starting 2019 with a new approach to her way of teaching and her overall way of thinking.

The internationally known preacher uploaded a video to her 2.1 million followers on Instagram (see below), sharing that she now feels that her views on prosperity and faith “got out of balance”.

“I’m glad for what I learned about prosperity, but it got out of balance. I’m glad for what I learned about faith, but it got out of balance,” explaining, “every time someone had problems it was ‘cause they didn’t have enough faith. If you got sick, you didn’t have enough faith. If your child died, you didn’t have enough faith … Well, that’s not right.”

Joyce is extremely popular for her positive thinking teaching. However, she has also attracted a lot of criticism around her messages that appear to equate financial prosperity with the Gospel, and that if we just had more faith in life, all our problems would disappear.

It’s been Joyce’s continued delving into the Bible that has brought out the change. “There’s nowhere in the Bible where we’re promised that we’ll never have any trouble. I don’t care how much faith you’ve got, you’re not gonna avoid ever having trouble in your life.”
