Recently we finished renovating our house and the other Saturday was the first open house. It may have taken us 2yrs but once we “crossed over the line” and it was done, we both experienced mixed emotions.
Relief was the first, followed but a sense of accomplishment then a “well it will sell soon and we will move into an older un-renovated house again.”
When you set your eyes on a goal and see it through to the end, it certainly is wonderful.
A friend in ministry once said to us, “the battle is not in getting the victory, but in the day after.” Most of the time we pray hard to get the victory (the finish line) but then we forget to continue in prayer to occupy in that victory.
Crossing that finish line is just the first stage. Occupying and continuing in that victory is where the real battle begins. Like buying a house: the purchase allows us to live in it, but we still have to pay the mortgage every month to keep it.
Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
