God’s Prompt to Give

Matthew from Wickham in WA, says he wrestled with God about donating to Visionathon and just kept putting it off. It was his mother who continued reminding him to give.

“I was thinking that before I could give I needed to have a permanent job,” says Matthew. “I needed stability, I needed a house, I needed to make sure my car was running. It goes on and on and eventually I just ran out of excuses.”

Matthew says he got a bit of a wake up call when he moved into a new position at work. “The guy I work with always seems to think about money. He talks about winning Powerball, and I started thinking, I don’t really need that.”

It’s a normal thing to want financial security, but Matthew believes when you become fixated and obsessed with money it’s not healthy. He felt that God was convicting him to give. “God is our provider. He will provide everything we need so we can give.”

Matthew has actually pledged to become an ‘Extra Mile Partner’, and give monthly to the work of Vision. “At the end of the day, it’s not our money that God wants. It’s our heart.”
