Do you frequently depend on other people or things to make you feel good? Those things can undoubtedly boost our confidence, but we won’t be stable until we have a solid connection with God. Until we can acknowledge that everything we are is a result of God’s grace, we will never feel complete.

He saved us. His love lives in us. It’s a love that we don’t deserve, and it has no limits. In this episode of In Touch, Dr Charles Stanley explains why we all need God’s grace to be saved, forgiven, and free of guilt, as well as to live in God’s energy.

Dr. Charles believes the miraculous change in the Apostle Paul demonstrates God’s grace as the source of our value. Paul’s self-worth grows as a result of God’s grace, and this is evidenced in three main ways:

  1. The Recognition of Sin
The recognition of sin is followed by new birth, which is followed by a sense of belonging to God.
  2. The Revolution of Life
A revolution took place in Paul’s life, and that led to new behaviour. The result was that Paul had a tremendous sense of self-worth in his heart.
  3. The Grace of God
The Scripture says Paul redirected his energy. When God gives him a sense of belonging through new birth and new behaviour, Paul feels a sense of competence as he redirects his energy.

‘Because Jesus Christ died on the cross for me and lives within me,’ says Charles, ‘I’ve got to be worth something in His eyes. The Holy Spirit is living within my life, energising me to do His will. But before that will be true, I must be willing to give up my guilt of the past.’

‘I must be ready to trust in the pure, unadulterated, unalterable, unchanging, irrevocable, incomparable grace of God.’
