Impossible Provisions? Not with the God of the Impossible!

Crossing four state borders during lockdown. A house to stay in when there’s none available to rent. How are these even possible? But Ian found that God was truly the God of the impossible. He shares during Visionathon.

Most in Australia found themselves holed up in one location during lockdown. Travelling outside of a few kilometres of one’s home is a challenge. Crossing borders, an impossibility. But Ian was trooping across the country. He crossed four state borders during lockdown. He went the long way around on the Birdsville Track from Queensland into South Australia, then Victoria into Tasmania. How did he manage that?

“Only God can do that,”

was Ian’s reply. He was not even stopped nor challenged at any point!

But that was not all. God did not just stop at clearing obstacles for Ian.

God provided a house for Ian to stay in when there was none to rent.

“And all of a sudden, I have money when I had no job,” Ian added.

“And I get full access to my son when I was told there’d be none.”

Wow! God’s really shown Himself as a living, almighty God who knows and cares in Ian’s life. One of the ways is through The Word for Today. As a professional fisherman, the series on fishing that The Word for Today spoke to Ian. But it wasn’t just about the content. The message was timely. God met Ian through The Word for Today at precisely when he needed.

“I love my fishing. I love everything about it. I could walk with God every day on my mind and admire His Creation,” Ian shares. “On that last day, it was one of those things in life that you dread. It’s like, ‘I don’t want to leave this. And I’m really apprehensive about the future.’

But I opened The Word for Today, and I actually hadn’t read it for a few days — most unlike me. I started to read it and it was about the fishers of men. And I knew before I turned the page, what day that would finish on. And that passage in Luke spoke to me and the words absolutely confirmed that the Lord is in control. Only He could engineer that, and that is truly amazing.

It was basically saying,

‘Invite Jesus into your boat.’ That was really what the message was saying.

It gave me such a peace that He goes before in all things for those that seek Him.”

God’s obviously been leading and guiding Ian as Ian brings Him into his situation. To those who have yet donated, Ian says, “I’d do it today.

As believers, we have two commissions — to preach the gospel and to edify the saints. Vision checks both of those bills. They get five stars for each one.”
