Vision’s radio station in Beauty Point, Tasmania, went to air on the 27th of May, 2023. This is Vision’s 64th radio station out of the 100 stations 2021-2023 project and the 803rd station overall.
Beauty Point has a population of 1,222 and is located by the Tamar River, 48 km northwest of Launceston.
One special attraction of Beauty Point is the guaranteed sightings of seadragons, seahorses, platypuses and echidnas. Seahorse World is Beauty Point’s famous aquarium, where you can get a close-up view of these tiny creatures. The Cave is home to a selection of seahorses and sea dragons. The Farm gives you an exclusive view of Australia’s only working seahorse farm, where you can see thousands of them in all stages of life.
Platypus House gives you a close-up view of Tasmanian platypuses and echidnas in their natural environment.
Once you’ve finished exploring the unique wildlife, you may like to tour the 20 local, family-owned vineyards.
There’s plenty to explore in the surrounding area of Beauty Point, such as walking and hiking tracks, mountain biking, fly fishing, and golfing. Launceston is only a 45-minute drive.

The cost of establishing a new transmission site depends on the output power and unique site requirements.
Low power licences (ideal in a small country town, for example) typically cost less than $10,000 to establish. This includes the satellite receiving and FM retransmission equipment, the cost of the licence itself, basic local marketing, and program supply via satellite for the first year.
High-power licences and transmission sites are more expensive (but they do have much greater reach).
