God has a plan for each of our lives so that they will be productive and fruitful. God wants us to be successful in everything He calls us to do and to have confidence that comes from our relationship with Him. We are God’s children, and the Holy Spirit lives in us.
In his latest message, ‘Belief Brings Success’, Dr Charles Stanley tells us we can be confident that whatever God asks of us, He is going to be with us and in us, enabling us to accomplish that task. He reminds us how important it is to maintain a Godly belief system.
Charles believes that the ultimate key to success is to believe. Genuine, true success is continuing to become the person God wants us to be. It’s the continuous achievement of the goals God would have us set for our life.
‘The mind is an awesomely powerful instrument God has given us,’ says Charles. ‘And it will either lead us to reach goals that God has helped us set, or it will not. It’s very important that you and I understand that belief is ultimately the bottom-line key of our success or failure.’
Many people lay down their dreams and goals because they don’t believe in themselves. They don’t believe that God loves them and will enable them. When we talk about visualising something, it means to create a mental picture of it, and to hold that picture and believe in the awesome power God has given us.
When the Apostle Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me,” he knew the awesome power that God had placed in him. God doesn’t want cobwebs of negative thoughts controlling and dominating our minds. He wants us to think about what He desires to do in our lives.
‘Forget about past failures,’ says Charles. ‘Don’t live in the past. If you’re a believer, you are a child of God. You have been given the awesome, incomparable, immeasurable, indescribable gift of the grace of God. You have been forgiven of all your sin. Your name has been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. You have been sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day He calls you home. Your life and your eternity is going to be with Almighty God.’
All of us have been gifted you with certain human talents and spiritual gifts to enable us to become everything God wants us to be. We have been saved by grace. It’s the gift of God now that works in this dimension, for we are His workmanship, persons of notable excellence.
God created us to succeed. ‘Does that mean there will be no suffering in life?’ says Charles. ‘No, because that’s what builds character. It is a part of the growing process. Do we believe that God is who He says He is and that He keeps his word? How can we strengthen our whole belief system?’
- God Equips Us
The first thing is we need to accept as truth is that God has endowed us with everything we need to accomplish His purposes for us. God has indeed gifted us with everything we need to become the person He wants us to be. We can reach the goals He has set for our lives.
2. God Will Make a Way
‘He has promised to make a way when there seems to be no way,’ says Charles. ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. This is His way of saying he will enable you to become and achieve what He has set for you.’
3. Read the Bible
Read your Bible with a red pencil and shade every verse that has to do with courage and confidence. Let them jump out at you. What is God trying to say to you when you are facing this particular challenge or goal in your life?
‘Pray those promises back to the Lord,’ says Charles. ‘Tell Him you need some direction at this point. Get in a conversation with God about what He said, what He promised. You’re driving those beliefs into your belief system. When those principles of scripture start taking root, they begin to dominate your thinking.’
Visualise and think about all the good things that God has done in your life. Get a piece of paper and write down the type of person you want to become. This will change your life because you’re going to start focussing your attention on what you want to become, not on what you are.
‘If God is for us, who can be against us?’ says Charles. ‘We have to rely upon the wonderful promises of God. It is a matter of believing the Scripture, believing God and believing what He says. God is with us in this.’
‘God is big enough, great enough and powerful enough to enable us to reach that goal.’
Life may be a minefield, but that doesn’t mean you have to live in fear. Dr. Stanley spells out the biblical principles for avoiding and defusing each of these landmines. In the midst of spiritual warfare, Landmines in the Path of the Believer is a call to live in the strong peace of God. A resource available from our Vision Store.
