As a child of God, you have access to the presence of the Holy Spirit – the power of the Spirit of God within you. The promise of God is that that power can sustain you, strengthen you and provide for you every single thing that is necessary.
In his latest message, Sustaining Grace, Dr Charles Stanley reassures us that all believers, at all times live under the umbrella of God’s grace. That covering helps us weather even the most severe storm. What’s so amazing is that not only does God’s grace take care of our sin through the cross, it also takes care of our daily lives.
‘Christians face the same suffering and trials that non-Christians face,’ says Charles. ‘Because life is life. The question is, as followers of Jesus, how do we face them? Do we face them triumphantly? How do we respond to life? That’s what grace is all about. Not only the forgiveness of sin, but enabling us to face life with absolute confidence that our Heavenly Father is watching over us.’
Grace is God’s undeserved, unearned favour that He bestows upon us in spite of the fact that we don’t deserve it. The Apostle Paul certainly understood what grace was all about. It’s the kind of loving, caring goodness of God that enables us to face anything in life with confidence and assurance.
‘When we begin to understand what Paul is saying in this passage,’ says Charles, ‘and the awesome, indescribable provision that God has for every single one of His children through His grace, we can say that in the midst of all these things, we are content.’
‘Sustaining grace is God’s answer to the painful, trying circumstances that we all face in life. This is God’s response to those things in which He may or may not choose to answer. But what determines whether He takes away our suffering?’
‘One thing and one only. His purpose for allowing it.’
