When asked to describe the future, some people mention the technological advances that the future will bring. Some describe a bleak economical, moral and environmental picture. While others just take each day as it comes.
Many people unfortunately are fearful of what the future could hold. Not that they don’t have a hope, but rather they don’t have confidence it will be any good. Even if they have a positive future planned, there is still this unknown cloud of, “Well… I’m not really that sure”.
In the bible, the book of Jeremiah Chapter 29 says
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The future will always look different to each one us. It will be coloured by what we see, experience or feel. The ups and downs will vary but we can all find our assurance in the one fact… God is on the throne and He has all things in hand.
In serving God we may not know what the future has in store, but because we know the God of the future, we can have this confidence that He has everything under control.
