Dreaming Bigger

7 December 2018 will mark a significant anniversary for Vision.

It will be 30 years to the day since our founders formally began the journey toward Vision’s dream of Trusted Christian Media For Every Australian. These six men and women met in a simple suburban house in Sydney, undeterred by their limited resources or opportunity.

They knew it would be a walk of faith. Just look at what their faith has borne out—Vision now reaches hundreds of thousands of people every day through broadcast, print and digital platforms.

Those six faithful people have multiplied into a nationwide family of believers united around the cause of the Gospel! We believe God has called Vision to a play unique role in Australia’s media landscape—to be a voice of Biblical truth and hope—and there is still a lot of growing to do.

The Next Big Steps

We are so grateful to have people of faith in our history. Today we are asking God to give us the gift of faith too, asking: ‘What big steps do we need to take to lay the foundation for the next 30 years?’

Our strong sense is that God is now leading us to enlarge our tent, stretch out the ropes and deepen the stakes, like he did with the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 54:2). Specifically, to secure a bigger and more functional home base from which to operate.

Our current location has served us well for the past 17 years but we’re now at capacity with workspaces cramped, inefficiencies due to poor design, plus growing issues with parking and security. Take a tour and see why we need to move for yourself at vision.org.au/building.

In late 2017, we determined to start looking at options, with the ideal being to own a freestanding building (we currently operate from a mix of owned/rented units in a complex).

After a thorough search, and prayer, the board has decided take a step of faith—entering into a contract for the purchase of a freestanding 20 year old building on one acre of land at Springwood Queensland—not far from our current location.

A Key Asset for the Gospel for Future Generations

This will be a ‘keystone’ asset and infrastructure for the next 30 years, at least. Along with enabling continued growth of what we already do, it will also open the way for new frontiers:

  • Media training school — to equip and send our ‘media missionaries’
  • More diverse content — to better reach our multicultural nation.
  • Expanded journalism — to counter the spin and sensationalism of other media.
  • Support for other Christian broadcasters — in Australia and Asia Pacific.

It will also help enable our vision for true Australiawide, high power transmissions (by providing an equity base to leverage to secure the licences as they become available).

By Faith, We're Trusting God

We believe God has already gone ahead of us with the seller agreeing to a long settlement period on condition of a non-refundable deposit. The settlement deadline is 15 June 2019.

We also had several other confirmations that God is with us on this journey, including unsolicited messages of support and a large unexpected bequest. All of our current Board members and Executive have also committed to personally give toward the project.

We are trusting God for the remaining funds needed to finalise the purchase, asking Him to lead us to the people to whom He has given the capacity and desire to fund His work.

If you believe you may be one of them please contact us.

David Ould says there are many churches who take the call to teach the Bible seriously, but there are also many who don’t.
