A Beacon of Hope to the Nation

Dear friends,

What a challenging start to the new decade it has been for many Aussies! Fire, flood, drought and high anxiety fuelled by the constant barrage of speculation and negativity from our nation’s media (most but not all… 🙂).

Who we choose to listen to will shape our thinking and our lives. We saw a radical example of this during a recently reported tragedy.

You probably heard the terrible news of the four children in Sydney who were struck and killed by an allegedly drink driver – three of them from the same family. Such an awful tragedy that breaks my heart, and no doubt yours too.

But the response of their mother (Leila) was incredible.

Confronted by reporters at the scene of the crash, she declared “I think in my heart I forgive him” … “I’m not going to hate him because that’s not who we are”. For many people, that would be a completely impossible thing to say.

I’ve since discovered that this entire family are Bible-believing Christians, known for their service to the homeless through a “Team Jesus” group. Leila’s ability to forgive in this darkest of moments is the surely the transformative work of God shining bright for all to see.

Please join me in praying for this family at this terrible time, and also pray with me that every Australian would know the truth that sets us free.

Your generous support of Vision enables more Aussies to hear this same truth.

Words like “beacon” and “lighthouse” are constantly used to describe our work – they reflect our focus on God’s life-giving Word. This world might seem to be drifting, but true believers are now shining brighter against this ever darkening backdrop. They’re easier to see, like the green shoots that appear after a bushfire. And as we encourage each other toward faith and good work, I believe God will do a new thing in Australia just as he did in Israel:

‘See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.’ – Isaiah 43:19 NIV

God has positioned us to be His instruments, and I am excited at the opportunities before us as we prepare to move the ministry into our new HQ in just a few months’ time, and “enlarge our tent” (Isaiah 54:2) and stretch our faith once again.

And PRAISE GOD – He has supplied the shortfall in funding what we needed to complete stage 2! Our team are currently hard at work on the massive task of building the studios, offices, and installing the technology and other infrastructure needed to move in and capture all the opportunities this new facility will enable (read more in the attachment to this letter). I hope you too are excited to see this coming together!

However, although this new “vehicle” is almost ready to go, today we have a challenge we’re hoping you can help overcome.

We need to ensure there is enough “fuel in the tank” for our daily mission, and the year has started a little slower than usual with donations. I know you value Vision’s ministry so please, as you are able, we would value your tax-deductible gift at this time.

As always we thank you for standing and praying with us in this important mission to bring the truth that sets people free to all Australia.

Blessings,

Phil Edwards
Chief Executive Officer

PS I just saw the comment below as I was completing this letter, it’s so encouraging! It again demonstrates what your support today is doing…

“I am a young Christian desperate for the Word of God. It is often difficult to find truth and answers about real world problems and what is happening in our nation not reported within secular news and media…Vision gives me the opportunity to do access all this easily, it truly does connect my faith to everyday life. I can now access knowledge that can’t easily be found anywhere else.” – Amber, Victoria (received 1 Feb 2020)
