The one who has the Son has life. The one who doesn’t have the Son of God does not have life. 1 John 5:12
Aimee shares some thoughts on this verse…
I love this verse so much because it puts everyone on a level playing field and points us to eternity. When I had long-term chronic illnesses spanning more than a decade, I had a sense of peace in knowing that I was secure in Christ. That despite my suffering and experiences on earth, where sometimes I didn’t feel like I had ‘life’ in the sense of physical wellness, I had ‘life’ eternal in Christ.
Life eternal with Christ is the real life and the best hope we can have on earth. Ultimately it’s about having Christ, His life in us, securing us for all eternity. That is what really matters. This verse gives hope to everyone that no matter what our struggles or joys in life if we have Jesus, if we have trusted in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins, and turned from sin, we have life and life eternal. Hallelujah!
