For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Mandy shares some reflections on this verse…
I’ve heard some people hear the Gospel explained and then simply respond by saying that while they know they’re sinners, they’re good people at heart. And some have heard the Gospel so many times that it just rolls off them. Of course, sometimes it’s hard to understand the Good News when you don’t understand the bad news.
The bad news is that every person is guilty of sin, even if it’s just a small, seemingly unimportant, insignificant sin and that means that no matter how nice or good we think we are, we’re lawbreakers and guilty in God’s eyes.
How many laws do you need to break to be considered a lawbreaker? Only one… that’s enough. So the bad news is that we’re all guilty of committing the crime of sin before God. What’s the penalty for these crimes? Death. That is genuinely bad news.
But hey, there’s good news too. The Good News is that God knows we can’t pay for our sins on our own, so He died in our place, for our sins so that we could not only be forgiven, but have eternal life with Him. That’s not just Good News, it’s glorious news.

We trust God will bless you as you commit His Word to your memory and allow it to penetrate deep into your heart.
