Vision’s radio station at Echuca, VIC, went to air on 27 January 2023. This is Vision’s 55th radio station out of the 100 stations 2021-2023 project and the 794th station overall. This radio station is in addition to Echuca 87.6 FM.

Our tech friend, Jim Matheson, provided this feedback:

‘Installation was carried out on a very hot day by John M, Jim M and Steve (an open-end cable layer). We were on site from 10 am to 7.30 pm. The hosting church local, Steve, made himself available all day. He fitted in well as I struggled in the sweltering heat. Thanks to Cindy and Roz, John and Jim’s wives, for running to Bunnings, etc., and insisting we stop and drink water and use sunscreen. They’re good scouts. All in all, a good result.’

Echuca is located 225 km from Melbourne, making it a 2 hr 24-minute drive. It has a population of 15’056 and is known as a historic inland river port on the Murray River. The name Echuca is a Yorta Yorta Aboriginal word meaning ‘the meeting of the waters’. The Yorta Yorta Aboriginals occupied the land prior to the arrival of European settlers.

Some attractions include riverboat cruises along the Murray River or canoe, or houseboat hire for those who want to explore independently.

Billabong Carriages operate a horse-and-carriage service around the Port Precinct. Sharp’s Magic Movie House and Penny Arcade, located in the Bond Store, built in 1858, has a huge range of old penny arcade machines and an interesting collection of old films and old newsreels, shorts, early Australian films and short comedies featuring Laurel & Hardy, Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin.

The Courthouse, built in 1872, and the Echuca Historical Society Museum are worth a visit, and for motor enthusiasts, The National Holden Motor Museum has over 40 immaculately restored Holdens, rare prototypes, historic film footage and souvenirs.

For outdoor adventurers, Horseshoe Wetland and Floodplain Reserve & The Barmah National Park are worth exploring.

So, whether you’re a local or visiting, you can now tune in to 88.0 FM and be blessed by God’s Word being spread through Vision Radio and the supporters who made it possible. It might just change your life!
