Vision’s radio station in Finley, NSW, went to air on the 17th of October, 2023. This is Vision’s 71st radio station out of the 100 stations 2021-2023 project and the 810th station overall. This was another site made possible by the help of a supporter who was too far away to host.

Finley has a population of 1,864 and is located 659 km southwest of Sydney via the Hume, Sturt and Newell Highways and 295 km north of Melbourne via Shepparton and Tocumwal. It is a prime irrigation area 20 kilometres from the Murray River. It supplies wool, wheat, rice, dairy products, vegetables, cereals, canola, cattle, lambs, and pigs to markets in Sydney and Melbourne.

Finley’s was originally named Carawatha, which means ‘place of pines’ by the local Wiradjuri First Nation People. It was renamed in the 1870s when a settlement was established, and F.G. Finley surveyed 1.2 million hectares of the area.

Points of interest for visitors are Finley Lake, a beautiful picnic spot, and Mulwala Canal, which, at 155 km, is the longest irrigation channel in Australia.

Finley Railway Museum and Mary Lawson Wayside Rest has a log cabin replica of a pioneer home with historical equipment and machinery.

So, whether you’re a local or visiting, you can now tune in to 88.0 FM and be blessed by God’s Word being spread through Vision Radio and the supporters who made it possible. It might just change your life!

The cost of establishing a new transmission site depends on the output power and unique site requirements.

Low power licences (ideal in a small country town, for example) typically cost less than $10,000 to establish. This includes the satellite receiving and FM retransmission equipment, the cost of the licence itself, basic local marketing, and program supply via satellite for the first year.

High-power licences and transmission sites are more expensive (but they do have much greater reach).
