Vision’s radio station at Pingrup, WA, went to air on 25 January 2023. This is Vision’s 54th radio station out of the 100 stations 2021-2023 project and the 793rd station overall, and the first station installed in 2023.
Our amazing supporters requested this station, provided the funds and approached the Shire to host it. ACMA issued the licence in December 2022, and Hein Matthiae installed it five weeks later.
Pingrup, with a tiny population of 258, is located 360 km southeast of Perth. It takes approximately 4 hours to drive from Perth to Pingrup via Albany Highway or Great Southern Highway. It is 99 km from Katanning, 130 km from Wagin and 198 km from Albany.
If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten-path destination in Western Australia or want to escape the hustle-bustle of city life for a while, Pingrup is worth a visit! Enjoy the Corner Space and Museum that sells beautiful homewares and gifts, a visit to the Pink Lakes, The Grain Silos, Shearer’s Hand Piece or the Gnamma Holes, where early Aboriginals are believed to have used this area for watering and resting on their walkabouts.
