Two of the main elements of our lives are health and well-being and strong and sound relationships. Essential components of those are regularity and consistency.
Physical health and wellbeing are unattainable without regular and consistent nutrition and hydration. Put simply, we need to eat and drink well and regularly. The same applies to our emotional and mental health. We need regular and consistent positive input to sustain strong emotional and mental health.
This is what we are all about at Vision—Helping you look to God daily.
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, as recorded in Matthew 6:11, He told them to pray, ‘Give us this day our daily bread.’ The word “daily” suggests regularity and frequency. Jesus wanted His disciples to understand that their approach to God in prayer could not be ad hoc but had to be systematic and sustained.
We understand that we need a regular intake of nutritious food for the body to grow and develop healthily. The same applies to our spiritual being. We need a regular intake of the spiritual food of truth to strengthen and sustain us. That food of truth is found in the Bible, the living word of God. Matthew 4:4 tells us that, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
The Bible tells us that God created us to have relationship with Him. Human experience tells us that deep and meaningful relationships are not developed without frequent and sincere contact and communication. Those relationships only develop when we spend time and
effort are expended to make them happen.
The same applies to our relationship with God. Our relationship with Him only deepens when we spend time in His presence; when we talk to Him and listen to Him. How do we know when God is speaking to us? We will know because we recognise His language, and we can only recognise His language when we are familiar with the words He speaks in His Word.
Daily—regular, consistent, sincere and sustained.
