We often hear about God as the Father and Jesus as the Son. But who do we know as The Holy Spirit? Jesus told the disciples that the Holy Spirit was the Comforter and Counsellor He was going to send after He left this earth.

The Holy Spirit is someone who wants to be in a close relationship with us. After we accept Jesus into our lives, we’re not just left alone to follow Him. We have the Holy Spirit in us, and He’s there to help guide us in our walk with God.

In this episode of Enjoying Everyday Life, Joyce Meyer reminds us of the significance of the Spirit in our lives. Who is this friend that God has sent us? How can we pursue a more profound connection with the Holy Spirit?

A Triune God

John 15:26 tells us that when the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of Truth who comes from the Father, He will testify and bear witness about Me.

‘We serve a triune God,’ says Joyce. ‘One God, but manifested in three persons. The Trinity is really the perfect example of true unity because in the Trinity, there’s no jealousy, and there’s no competition. They’re all for each other and all about glorifying each other.’

Joyce believes that because we serve a triune God, we need to be aware of and worship each one. We need to fellowship with each one. We need to know the Holy Spirit as a person, not a person like we are, but still a person.

The Mind of God

‘When we pray to know the mind of God on something,’ says Joyce, ‘it’s very important to realise that the Holy Spirit is living in us, and He’s the one who will reveal the mind of God to us.’

When we have the Holy Spirit filling our lives, we can expect to have a greater level of communication with God. We’re saved by the blood of Christ, but when we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we realise that He wants to do supernatural things for us, in us and through us.

‘But we don’t want to seek the gifts of the spirit just to be a show-off,’ says Joyce. ‘It’s about glorifying God.’

‘Because love is the most important thing of all.’
