The Lord gives victory!

Now this I know: The LORD gives victory to his anointed. He answers them from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. Psalm 20:6-7 We must never underestimate the Power of God. King David knew that God had given him victory of the Lion & the Bear, he gave him victory over Goliath, Victory in many battles small & great. And he was a man after God’s own
heart, and he would give God the glory. He knew that God had given victory to Moses against the mighty Pharaoh of Egypt, he knew God had given victory to Gideon, even though he only had 300 men and was clearly the underdog, he knew God had given victory to Joshua as they marched around Jericho, he knew that When God appoints someone, he anoints them for Victory, and no matter what the odds are, with God on your side you can win any battle. I reckon David wrote some of the Psalms before a battle, and some of them after a battle, he would always come back to trusting in the Lord.

Why Write?

I was just talking to a friend last nigh

t about the importance of writing down our journals & prayers and how we can look back at them & acknowledge what God has done over the years. Clearly, King David had this habit, and we now call these the Psalms, which he wrote most of. They say there is almost every human emotion covered across all the Psalms. But one focus they always have is Giving Praise to God. And most of our modern worship songs & Hymns are based on something from the Psalms.
I watched part of a TV show on SBS the other night with one of the “New Atheists,” Richard Dawkins. He mockingly said, “People still find
meaning in the writings of an obscure desert tribe from thousands of years ago…” And he went on and belittled the Bible etc. That Desert tribe he’s talking about is Israel, God’s chosen people. And when you look at the influence that Desert tribe has had on history, it’s undeniable that our Creator had a plan for them, & he still does!
I think Richard Dawkins will one day realise that there’s no point trusting in Chariots or horses, or worldy wisdom. I hope & pray he
realises it before he meets God on judgement day…
Lord, I thank you that we can trust in you no matter what battle we are in, you can give us victory. Forgive me for trusting in the ways of the world sometimes. I place my trust in you. In Jesus name Amen.
