Paul witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God, and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets he tried to persuade them about Jesus. Acts 28:23
The Life of Paul is one of the best examples of a life transformed you will come across. From the strictest of Jewish traditions, to a radical follower of Jesus. After all that he’d been through, this is one of the last passages we read in scripture about his life. He would witness all day long & teach from the Law of Moses & the prophets persuading people that Jesus is the Messiah. I’ve heard there’s a new Bible that’s been released, not only does it have the red letters of Jesus’ words, but all of the Old testament verses that point to Christ are also in red. If it was important to the first century Christians to persuade people about Christ this way, it should also be important for us. This is something we need to study more. Acts ends in chapter 28 without saying Amen at the end. The last verse says, “He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!” Acts 28:31 The baton has been passed to many others though the generations, & it’s our turn now.
The Bible does not record how Paul died, some historians have suggested he was beheaded at the order of the Roman emperor Nero. There is no way to be certain regarding the circumstances of his death. But, from all indications, he died for his faith. We know he was ready to die for Christ, and Jesus had predicted that Paul would suffer much for the name of Christ. Based on what the Book of Acts records of Paul’s life, we can assume he died declaring the gospel of Christ, spending his last breath as a witness. According to tradition, 11 of the 12 disciples were Martyred for proclaiming that Jesus was risen from the dead. Paul & the disciples laid down their lives for the gospel, and the blood of the Martyrs was the seed of the church. Wherever we are, we should always be ready to share God’s word. We are Acts 29…
What is the price we are willing to pay for the gospel to be spread? I shared at the Holy Fire ministry school last night & loved seeing some young on-fire students, wanting to go wherever God is sending them. I told them to make the most of their time doing ministry school, but it doesn’t end when college does. We are life-long learners. We are disciples who should make disciples, who should make disciples. Etc. Dale Stephenson from Crossway church shared recently how he asked a man to read the bible with him each week. The man agreed and after several weeks he came to the Lord. He has challenged his church to do the same & now over 470 have been saved though this idea. I’m meeting with a guy for the first time tomorrow to read the bible with him. It’s a simple idea, and we need to be lead by the Holy Spirit, but imagine if every believer found one person like this?
Lord, Make me an instrument in your hand today. Give me the boldness & wisdom of Paul to go wherever you lead me. In Jesus name. Amen.
