Lauren Daigle Rejected Three Times on American Idol – What She Learnt

Lauren Daigle

When you hear Lauren Daigle belt out her hit song ‘Look Up Child’, it’s hard to imagine that someone like her would ever be rejected from American Idol, let alone three times.

However, that’s exactly what happened when she auditioned in 2010, 2011 and 2012.  She is living proof that God often has a reason behind rejection when He has a bigger plan and purpose in mind for our lives.

Lauren was just 17-years-old in 2010 when she got cut just before the Top 24 American Idol contestants were announced.  In 2011 she didn’t even make it past the first round of auditions.  She made it to Hollywood in 2012, but was cut during the first round of Las Vegas auditions.

You can watch her group audition performance from 2012 below.

Lauren wasn’t bitter about getting rejected and she didn’t use it as an excuse to give up. In fact she saw God using it as a tool to grow in her maturity and faith.

"At first, I was this 17-year-old teeny-bopper who was like, ‘Yeah, I just want to sing.' I wanted to help people, but that was not my main goal."

Fun fact: Did you know that Vision artists Mandisa and Colton Dixon also appeared on American Idol?
