Vision Radio Installation Reduces Suicides

Ralph and Ann from Mount Warren Park in Queensland joined Neil, Mandy and Hilton Edwards from Bible League on 20Twenty to talk about the high suicide rates in remote Indigenous communities.

Ralph and Ann were working with a church in Kununurra, Western Australia and had also made contact with Reach Beyond, the shortwave radio connection with South East Asia. After attending a Businessman and Pastor’s Prayer Meeting, the discussion came about to install Vision Radio in remote communities.

Ralph and Ann shared how, in one of these small communities, there were 11 suicides twelve months prior to the installation of Vision Radio. After the installation, there were zero suicides. That’s an example of the massive difference the installation of a Vision station can make to a community. It is literally life-saving as well as potentially soul-saving.

Ralph and Ann are generous Vision supporters who sow their financial seed into Vision because they have seen first-hand the impact God is making in people’s lives through Vision.

‘We’re always very interested in Vision Radio. We listen to it a lot. My first interest was when we went through Moranbah years ago, and we were cleaning out a room, as bush church people do, and discovered a transmitter up in the cupboard,’ said Margaret. ‘That was when I first realised that even in Moranbah, they’ve got transmitters that are sending out the Good News. And that was my first real thrill about Vision.’

Bible League Ministry provides Bibles, biblical resources, language translations and training to transform lives by helping people engage with God’s Word in ways they understand so they can come to know Jesus.

‘We’ve got 373 evangelists out in the field. Most of them are actually in remote communities,’ said Hilton Edwards from Bible League. ‘It’s just so good to have these Bibles going out into those communities. It’s so good to have Vision on air in those remote communities. And it’s great to have God’s Word going out into those communities as well.’

Special announcement!

A generous Vision partner has offered to pay for copies of the new Plain English Version of the Bible, distributed through Bible League, to be given to support the work of Indigenous evangelists in Australia. Each person who donates, whether $10 or $10,000, will be putting a Bible into the hands of an Indigenous Australian.

It’s so powerful when we hear words at the right time. Your donation to Vision enables that to happen all across Australia as we reach out to people with words of life and hope and even the lyrics of the songs we play.

Now is a great time to call in on 1800 316 316, at vision.org.au or in the free Vision Christian Media app. You’ll be helping people look to God daily as we believe and work together.
