Legendary country singer Dolly Parton has spoken out about her Christian faith. She told The Hollywood Reporter that cancel-culture is “terrible” and stressed that “if God can forgive, so must we all”.

“We all make mistakes. We don’t all get caught at it. But also when somebody makes a mistake, it depends on who they are. That’s what God is there for. I happen to believe in God. I am a faith based person, so therefore I am able to see it like that. A lot of people don’t, but everybody deserves a second chance. You deserve to be innocent until you’re proven guilty. Even when you’re proven guilty, if God can forgive you, so can I. If God can forgive you, we all should forgive one another,” the veteran performer proclaimed.

Dolly has previously strongly affirmed her belief in God and forgiveness in an interview with Fox News. “My faith impacts everything that I do because I do believe that through God, all things are possible. And so I always ask God to bless everything that I do and the people that I work with, and to bring all the right things and right people into my life and to take the wrong ones out,” she asserted.

The 77- year-old performer attributes her longevity as an entertainer to being fuelled by her faith. She also revealed she tries to view others with what she describes as a God-light: “I try to shine with it and let them see it through me. We’re all pieces of God and we all have that little God-light inside us. Some don’t get to let it shine. If I don’t see it first out, I’d go searching. That’s how I accept everybody because I know that we’re all pieces of God.”

Dolly explained why she repeatedly rejected approaches to perform at the Super Bowl. She told The Hollywood Reporter she simply didn’t believe she was a a big enough star to appear on stage at America’s biggest sporting event.

“I’ve been offered that many times. I couldn’t do it because of other things, or I just didn’t think I was big enough to do it– to do that big of a production. When you think about those shows, those are big, big productions. I’ve never done anything with that big of a production. I don’t know if I could have. I think at the time that’s what I was thinking.”
