Maverick City Music have given all the glory to God after sweeping the Grammy Awards in nearly every Christian music category.
The Atlanta-based gospel music collective tied with Beyoncé for the most wins at the ceremony.
Maverick City Music took home four Grammys for Best Gospel Performance, Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance, Best Contemporary Christian Music Album and Best Gospel Album.
Kirk Franklin featured in every one of those awards.
He said the success of Best Gospel Album Kingdom Book One is evidence that gospel music is still “alive and well … and the future.”
Mavericks member Naomi Raine said she was “super grateful to God and what He’s able to do when you just decide to give your life to serve other people and to uplift voices that are not normally heard.”
She said the group was able to perform the album in a prison and minister to inmates and let them know that God still loves them.
Another member Chandler Moore told how said Best Contemporary Christian Music Album Breathe aimed to encourage those struggling to remember God’s faithfulness.
He said it was recorded in the middle of the pandemic when it was so hard for many people to breathe and just catch a breath.
He noted that “God gave us a breath for one reason, to praise the Lord. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
The group posted on social media: “We are incredibly honoured and grateful to our Father for using us in this space and to YOU for always supporting us.”
