Authorities in northern Uganda have saved 40 Christian children from being sold to Islamic rebels.
The children aged 5 to 16 went voluntarily to a hotel with a Muslim man.
He was posing as the leader of a Christian charity and lured them by offering scholarships and free education.
Morning Star News reports the suspected ‘kidnapper’ was plotting to sell the children to a terror group in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Local church members became suspicious and called the police who rescued the children.
They had been booked on a bus to cross the nearby border into the Congo next day.
Police arrested a man and a woman.
One pastor thanked God for rescuing the children and urged Christians to be vigilant.
He said his community would have been devastated if the plot had succeeded.
