An American pastor has smashed the world record for running the most consecutive marathons.
Malachi O’Brien who goes by the nickname ‘Dr. Run’ has just completed 153 daily marathons.
He ran 42 kilometres every day from October the 6th to March the 8th no matter where he was.
He told Church-Leaders that his goal was to bring awareness to youth mental health as well as adoption and foster care.
Both causes are deeply personal to the Missouri pastor who was adopted when he was three years old.
His own family has adopted through the foster care system and his oldest daughter survived a mental health crisis.
Pastor O’Brien said every one of the 6,426 kilometres he covered was for the Glory of God and Revival.
“The miracles of this journey amaze me of the goodness of God.”
153 was the number of fish Simon Peter netted in the Gospel of John.
Verse 21:11 reads: So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.
That number also gave ‘Dr. Run’ the edge over Australian Erchana Murray-Bartlett who completed 150 marathons in 150 days in January after running 6,300 kilometres from Cape York to Melbourne.
She raised nearly A$120,000 for the Wilderness Society with all profits going towards conserving Australia’s native animals.
