National Health Service workers in the UK are turning to hospital chaplains for support.

Mental health charity Doctors in Distress says they’re facing an “unimaginable crisis” amid shortages of staff and beds.

The chaplains say they’re always there for patients and their families — but in the last couple of years the needs of hospital employees have been just as acute.

They say workers are absolutely exhausted after working through the pandemic and then seeing many colleagues quit.

Premier Christian News reports Britain’s cost of living crisis is also taking a toll on health professionals away from work.

Hospital chaplains say one of their most important roles is to listen to the grievances of workers.

They feel they’re being ignored by managers, bureaucrats and politicians.
