A Chinese-born church leader is warning Christians in western countries not to be fooled by China’s state-sponsored church.
The Reverend Father Jonathan Liu says the official United Front of China church is absolutely controlled by the government, and helps persecute illegal house churches.
His family have been Christians since the time of China’s Last Emperor a century ago.
He told the Christian Post he grew up in the official church, but found it “hollow”, with pastors constantly praising the Communist Party.
When Father Liu started attending house churches, he was rejected by education institutions; his home was monitored by police; and he was officially blacklisted.
After campaigning against the demolition of crosses at churches, he was forced to flee to California.
He now runs a fellowship of Chinese Christians to pray for believers in their homeland.
