Christian Charity A Giant In Global Relief

by | Tue, Sep 20 2022

Samaritan’s Purse began as a Christian charity that sent shoeboxes of toys and other gifts to needy children.

Half a century later it’s a global powerhouse for international relief.

It’s one of the biggest faith-based non-profits in the world with annual revenue of more than a billion dollars.

This month it made its 30th airlift to Ukraine since the Russian invasion.

Run by evangelist Franklin Graham, it has supplied 5.5 million Ukrainians with medicine, food and water and supports 30 medical facilities across the war-torn country.

Nearly 400 people work at its giant North Carolina warehouse.

Religion News Service reports it can dispatch several field hospitals and emergency crews within hours to the latest humanitarian crisis.

It’s named after the Biblical outsider who cares for an injured stranger.
