Christian Groups Alarmed By UK’s Spike In Poverty During Pandemic

British Christian aid groups are alarmed by the UK’s increase in poverty since the pandemic began.

Latest studies reveal half a million more people are experiencing poverty in the UK with almost 2 million children living in ‘deep poverty’.

Premier Christian News reports that with energy bills tripling in some cases, families are becoming increasingly fearful about making ends meet.

It reveals a 32% rise in the number of people calling for help from “Christians Against Poverty” where Paula Goddard works

She’s found that even the lowest tier of Maslow’s “Hierarchy of Needs” which includes food, water, sleep and warmth is not being met, due to families not having enough money.

Ms Goodard says many can’t afford to heat their homes or buy school uniforms.

An increase in Universal Credit which was on offer during the pandemic has been removed.
