Australia’s diesel storage facilities are being boosted.
$211 million will be included in next month’s Federal budget to build new domestic facilities in a bid to secure long-term fuel supply and create 1,000 new jobs.
As part of The Government’s fuel security plan, reforms will also be introduced which would require Australia to keep a minimum amount of fuel onshore.
This includes 40% diesel supply, as well as petrol and jet fuel.
Refineries will also be given greater financial support.
The policy will be worked through over the next six months, during negotiations between industry and government.
