The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) is calling on the Queensland Government to order a review into late term abortions.

It follows a report in The Courier Mail that terminations are being conducted as late as 37 weeks at Brisbane hospitals.

Foetal medical experts insist they’ve been essential procedures as abnormalities are detected late in pregnancy.

They say advances in pre-natal imaging and genomics mean that women can now make more informed decisions.

Since 2018, Queensland law requires two specialists to review and support any request for a late termination before it is undertaken.

ACL Queensland director Rob Norman labeled the newspaper revelations as ‘horrific’.

He said the public deserves full transparency from Queensland Health on numbers, methods and criteria for approving late-term abortions.
