A new toll-free helpline opens across Australia on Monday, November 15.

The 1800 CHAPLAIN hotline will be run by chaplains who are experienced in handling stressful and traumatic situations.

Its launch coincides with the lifting of covid restrictions just as the nation braces for potentially extreme weather.

The CEO of Chaplaincy Australia, Ralph Estherby says the mental stress on individuals and families during the past two years has become a crisis situation.

He notes that the life-saving work of Lifeline and other mental health helplines has been stretched during the pandemic, and now Chaplaincy Australia can fill the gap by offering earlier intervention.

Mr Estherby says the hotline’s chaplains are professionally trained and provide daily support in schools, hospitals, prisons and workplaces.
