The number of Israelis identifying as Christians has crept up to just under 200,000.

That’s still only around 2% of the Jewish state’s total population.

Three quarters of its believers are Arab Christians with the greatest concentrations in the northern cities of Nazareth and Haifa.

They account for 7% of Israel’s Arab population.

Most non-Arab Christians live in the Tel Aviv area.

New national statistics show over half of all Arab Christians undertook tertiary education, slightly more than the Jewish community.

CBN News reports the presence of Christians has long been controversial in the Holy Land where evangelism in the Jewish state is frowned upon.

Latest census data shows the Palestinian Christian population dropping to less than 50,000.
