In keeping with social-distancing, US churches are using their parking lots for community prayer.

The idea began with a Hispanic church in Texas.

They hung giant “prayer zone” banners, inviting people to drive in and call on Jesus, in the prayer closet of their own car.

AG News reports the church pastor Dino Espinoza came up with the idea when driving slowly past an empty school.

He reasoned we don’t need school zones when schools are closed. Churches may be closed because of the pandemic but we could have prayer zones.

Within a short time cars began to pull in.

Pastor Espinoza shared his idea with other ministers, who have implemented it in their communities.

The idea is now taking off across the country.
