An assistant school principal in the US state of Connecticut has been placed on leave after being caught on camera saying he wouldn’t hire Catholics or conservatives.
A video shows Jeremy Boland declaring that he considers Catholics to be “brainwashed” with a mindset that can’t be changed.
He conceded that the local Protestant community was fairly liberal by comparison.
He appeared unaware he was being recorded by a conservative media organisation called Project Veritas.
Premier Christian News reports multiple investigations have been launched into Mr. Boland’s behaviour.
A school statement said the board did not support any opinions that promote discriminatory hiring practices based on race, religion, gender, or age.
A spokesman stressed that assistant principals are never the sole decision maker in the hiring process.
