A swing to the left in the federal government could be just the wake-up call the country’s Christians need.
That’s according to Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director Martyn Iles.
He says when times get tough for Christians, they get stronger and more involved in the issues impacting on their lives.
Mr Iles cites the example of Christians in Victoria.
He told Vision Radio they face some of the worst anti-Christian laws in the world, yet they are the most activated believers in the nation by a magnitude of at least three to one.
“The ACL supporters in Victoria are the most zealous, the most committed, the most activated, by orders of magnitude.”
“Who knows? Maybe times will get tough and that fire in the belly will come and we’re going to see some real revival. That’s my prayer, because I think Australia needs revival and that’s where we’re headed.”
Mr Iles also believes Christians are more engaged about the issues affecting them than ever before.
He says having a federal Labor government could see them fight harder than ever for their causes.
