There are some predictions coming out that should spark a degree of optimism in business people, as economic activity is expected to grow in momentum in the coming two years.

Investors are upbeat, and companies are recording record profits! The Australian economy has enjoyed its strongest performance in history over the past 6 months. In South Australia, small business confidence has reportedly risen to its highest level in 15 years.

The latest GDP figures show the Australian economy grew 3.1% in the 4th quarter last year, and a broad-based recovery is underway.

As a Christian in business, no doubt you’ve borne the impacts of a ‘shaking’ over the past year and you’ve felt the effects of the Covid economic crisis. As Christians we know we are not immune from shocks, but our faith in God strengthens our resolve to press on. We know that God has our back.

Wez Hone, the Founder of the Kingdom Business Summits, spoke with Neil Johnson on Vision’s 20Twenty program, and shared that he expects there is a coming boom for business. He is a leading faith-in-business thinker, having built and sold 8 companies since the age of 18, and is about to launch a national tour.

Wez Hone teaches Christian entrepreneurs how Biblical principles apply to the marketplace so they can build highly profitable businesses as well as influence the world around them.

Wez says he is anticipating an ongoing 3-4 year boom in Australia. “While pessimism definitely sells more papers, ultimately what I like to do is observe the masses and do the opposite.”

Wez strongly believes in taking your faith to work with you and making it a part of your business pursuits. “You can’t separate church for work. I see myself as a full-time minister of the gospel in the marketplace. Scripture should have a massive impact on how Christians do business, and how they use wealth to advance the kingdom of God.

God told us how to trade, and we can’t separate that from our Sunday life. We have an obligation to use the gifts and talents we’ve been given to advance the kingdom of God. The Bible says seek first the kingdom.”

In his upcoming Momentum tour, Wez will be sharing his thoughts on maintaining momentum for a successful business, while also addressing the issue of regaining momentum in the aftermath of Covid.

“As Christians, we wait on God to hear when the opportunity is right,” Wez says. “Let’s not wait for the media or the government to tell us, let’s be the head and not the tail, and make it happen.

Now is our moment in time for the transfer of wealth. In the absence of war, this transfer happens during an economic meltdown. It’s not just about being a Christian, you have to be showing the Lord that you are doing business His way. We can’t wait around; we have to go on the offensive on behalf of the kingdom of God.”

Wez believes that before he knew Gods way, He didn’t understand how to handle finance. “There is a massive difference between profit to do the Lord’s work, and getting rich,” he says. “I’m called to do work on behalf of the kingdom and that anointing doesn’t change, no matter what the economic climate is.”
