A Fresh Look at Dating

How do you know if you’ve found “the one”? And what do you do, if you’ve never even been asked out on a date?

In this two part Focus on the Family podcast (audio below), Dr. Gary Thomas provides singles with meaningful advice on how you can find a good, godly spouse. Encouraging, practical advice for singles!

Part 1

Couples often decide to get married for the wrong reasons—because they’re infatuated, feel sexually attracted, or feel very compatible with each other. But Gary Thomas argues these factors will fade away all too quickly over time and leave many married couples feeling stale, broken or unsatisfied.

Instead, Gary urges single adults (and their parents) to look for character attributes in a potential future spouse that are based on the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

Specifically, he recommends looking for someone who handles conflict well, who would be a good parent, knows how to pray, shows humility, who is a giver, and is a solid Christian.
