Vision’s radio station at Myrtleford, Victoria, went to air on 3 September 2022. This is our 50th radio station out of the 100 stations 2021-2023 project and 788 station overall.
Our installer described this project as ‘the longest and most agonising’. The licence sits in an Exclusion Zone. Potential hosts pulled out, with one pulling out before the scheduled install day and after a lot of work that included making a concrete base and getting power companies on board as the site was on a hill near power lines. But God still has the last say. A supporter and his son and son’s wife drove around ‘cold’ door knocking. They found our current host, an elderly lady with English as a second language.
Our golden tech friends are Jim Matheson and John McKay. It was a long day for them as they travelled 8 hours to install and arrived home at 11 pm. Well done, guys!
Myrtleford is located between Wangaratta and Bright, a 3-hour drive from Melbourne via the M31 Hume Freeway. It’s a beautiful spot for lovers of outdoor adventures or wine and food connoisseurs.
Outdoor adventures include walking trails, swimming spots, scenic drives, watersports, fishing, golf, camping, snow holidays and off-roading. The Mosaic Trail deserves special mention. It is a 5.6 km trail that starts in the centre of town at the Mosaic Wall in Jubilee Park. It’s a flat, easy walk, and wheelchair friendly. The aim is to locate the 80 mosaics along the trail.
For foodies, there are gourmet cafes and restaurants, cellars and wine bars. The Farm Gates are farms that are open for visitors to purchase fresh produce such as nuts, all sorts of berries, and pumpkin seeds. There is also a stag deer and emu farm. The Myrtleford Farmers Market is held on the fourth Saturday of each month.
There’s a lot more to boast about Myrtleford, but why don’t you see for yourself and tune in to Vision Radio while you’re there?
