A Christian charity has come up with a new app for believers, who want to help others struggling to make ends meet.
Matt Wilson from Common Change told Premier, the concept was inspired by an early church model – where believers pooled their resources into a common fund, to give to others.
Using the smartphone app – groups of friends, small church groups, families or colleagues – agree among themselves how much to contribute each month. The platform provides reports on the piggy bank.
The needs are discussed online – such as a neighbour who’s lost their spouse or having difficulty paying the bills.
The app works out whether there’s sufficient funds – and if there is, arranges disbursement.
Common Change says their goal is to tackle economic isolation and insecurity and help people in need.
