Arrest Follows Fatal Hit and Run

Friday, October 13th, 2017

A 20 year old man on the run for three days after a fatal crash in the Melbourne suburb of Oakleigh has been arrested and charged.

Sebastian Kennet is back behind bars after a parole warrant was executed last night.

He was wanted over Monday night’s hit run collision in Oakleigh that claimed the life of 53 year old nurse Lynda Hansen.

Police believe Kennet was behind the wheel of a stolen Lexus which smashed into Ms Hansen’s Toyota Yaris as she turned right into Barkly St from Warrigal Rd at 11pm.

Kennett then allegedly ran away, leaving bystanders to try to help Ms Hansen, before paramedics and police arrived.

Police say they found Kennet at an address in Blackburn South with two others last night.

He’s been charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, fail to stop after collision with a fatality, fail to render assistance after fatal collision, theft of motor vehicle and drive whilst disqualified.

It has also emerged Kennett was involved in a fatal crash in Brighton East in 2011 in which teenager Aaron Piroska died.

He’ll face court on Monday.
