A Christian family values organisation wants reform around advertisements for online gambling.

FamilyVoice Australia reports, an Australian study revealed a 67 per cent increase in online gambling for the period of March and April 2020.

Research reveals between 60 and 70 per cent of children have gambled despite being underage, and one in 25 teenagers has a gambling problem.

Deakin University researcher Hannah Pitt says kids are getting ideas from TV advertising. They’re hearing “bet now” and “just click this”.

Betting advertising is banned in Australia during the G classification TV timeslots, but sports broadcasts watched by many children are exempt.

FamilyVoice National Director Peter Downie says we need to protect children by banning ads for online gambling during news broadcasts or sports programs.
