Christian charity Southern Cross Kids’ Camps has been running week-long camps for foster children and those in the child protection system for 20 years.

They aim to bring fun, value and long-term change to young people in need.

Their Adelaide Hills camp has 50 volunteers looking after 32 children.

Its motto is ‘Providing a Week of Happy Memories’ and it’s the heart of what they do, according to co-director Rachel Mulligan.

She told Eternity News, they seek to give an experience that’s a respite from often transient and traumatic lives.

The camps also aim to show the children their worth in Christ.

Every one of them is given a Bible at the start of the week .. and for some, that’s helped change lives.

Years later,  they’ve become regular churchgoers, immersing themselves in God’s Word.
